This award winning bed and breakfast is located in an historic neighborhood only 2 ½ blocks from the beach. Built in 1895, and graciously welcoming guests since 1917, Barclay Cottage is one of the oldest continuously operating lodging establishments in Virginia. Furnished with antiques, hand-made quilts and Victorian memorabilia, the Cottage has been upgraded continually over the years, and has all the modern conveniences including: central heat and air conditioning; cable TV with library of DVDs; free WIFI accessible throughout the property; and a guest computer and Business Center. Complimentary snacks and hot and cold beverages are available 24/7 in the Guest Pantry equipped with microwave and refrigerator. Its five guest rooms (some with jetted tubs) are individually decorated and themed featuring comfy pillow-top beds with crisp linens, ceiling fans and windows that open; AM/FM/CD stereo radios with MP3 input; hair dryers and make-up mirrors; fluffy towels and Turkish spa robes.

It also has a lot of “old fashioned” conveniences like: complimentary beach towels daily; use of beach chairs beach umbrellas and boogie-boards for wave riding; complimentary guest bicycles; a cozy Great Room where a full multi-course breakfast is served each morning; an extensive library of books to read; and, most importantly, innkeepers who tend to guests’ every need.
